Welcome to Puri's World!

Hiya, and bienvenidos!

I started out this journal not too long ago, and had it solely dedicated to my new idol, GACKT.
You can check out my first post here, in where I describe what got me into the GACKT fandom here.

But overtime, as I made new lovely friends on LJ, as well as started attending university, I decided to start making personal posts about my real life.

Posts about GACKT will be public, while personal posts are friend-locked.

If you would like me to add you to my friends list, then just send me a message telling me a bit about yourself, and why you would like me to add you (or in other words, why you are interested in my every-day life. XD ).
Once we've had a friendly conversation, then you may be granted life-time access to my journal.
You will be under no obligation to comment, but it sure does put a smile on my face to hear from you once in a while. ^^

I hope you've enjoyed your visit at:

New life chapter --> NEW LJ ACCOUNT!

Hello everyone!

So I knew I wanted to set up a new blog to document my upcoming study-abroad experience. I wrote my previous travel blog from when I went to Tokyo on Windows Live Spaces, but then that got transferred to Wordpress when the site was shut down. I was thinking on continuing the story there.

But then, I realized, that I'm really not as comfortable blogging there as I was here on Livejournal, a few years back. And you know, I do feel bad that I don't check up on the LJ community as often as I used to.

Thus, the decision was made! I would set up my new travel blog on Livejournal, on a different account!

And so, friends, if anyone is interested in following me during my year abroad, here is the link to the introduction post on my new LJ account.

To make clear, I will continue to interact with the fan community with THIS ACCOUNT, pinkkitty0808 .

**Leave a comment below with the items you would like to purchase, and I'll PM you my PayPal address. [I ONLY ACCEPT PAYPAL]**

**EDIT** Due to the lack of offers, I've decided to put the posters up for sale on eBay. So if you are interested in placing a bid for one of them, go here.
Otherwise, if I don't get any offers on eBay either, then I will accept the best offer here on LJ.

**EDIT No. 2** I relisted the posters on eBay here at a mark-down price. I saw that I got a lot of views on the posters, so I wanted to try one more time. Also, I can't tell if anyone here on LJ is interested in buying them with their own offer. . . since no one has left a comment or PM.
Therefore, until June 15th at 09:35 UTC-5, this will be the last time I'm gonna try to sell these posters.
I am leaving for 2 months on June 16th, so I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with the posters once I get back in August.

GIRUGAMESH!

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to give a quick update!
I attended Anime Boston this past weekend, and I guess it's safe to say that I am now a Girugamesh fangirl. After all, I spent most of the con stalking them! XD Well, not really, but kinda.

THEY TOUCHED MY ARM!! *flails* Collapse )

Then on Saturday I staked out the panel room for 4 hours where Girugamesh was going to hold an hour-long Q&A session. (I'm probably not supposed to do that, but this was my first con as well as my first encounter with a famous Japanese rock band, so I was barely aware of the regulations. :P )
Of course, there were a lot of LOLs.
One awesome person asked if the members could put on their cute faces. Luckily for you, I have personally made a macro demonstrating this historic event:

*If you like this, then please do spread it around on the Internet.* ^_~

Of course, Satoshi, the guy on the far right, only held his face for literally 2 seconds until he collapsed into a facepalm. In fact, he facepalmed a lot during the panel. XD

EDIT: I think I should mention, on Sunday at the convention, I saw Satoshi walking through the convention center's entrance. I wasn't sure if I could get his attention without creating a mob scene, so I meekly called out, "Satoshi?" He kept walking past me, so I was pretty sure I missed my chance UNTIL AT THE LAST SECOND he turned around and faced me. Once my mind established that THE Satoshi was looking right at me, I flailed a "Hiiii!~~~". He shyly waved backed, then continued on his way. afjblgurdppp!!

And I'll just stop here for now. I want to keep this short, but I really would like to share with you guys the happiness that I've experienced this weekend.
Don't worry though: GACKT will always be #1 in my heart. ;)

Oh, and one more thing! If you guys could check out a blog that my friend started with a group of people: http://blogs.umass.edu/englwrit112-majka/
The blog consists of reviews on films and art exhibits.
It would be super-special-awesome if you guys could leave a comment, for it would make my friend happy.
Sankyuu!

Thought of the Day: SHOW YOUR HEART

Hello everyone!

I just got back from spending Spring Break in Mexico to visit my family that resides there. But on Friday morning, I did notice my Japanese friends on Facebook expressing worry, then relief, then worry again with the disaster that struck in their homeland. I only had enough time to skim through my F-list here on LJ to see how others are doing.

I did not feel any better at the airport the next morning, as there was CNN News reporting the overheating nuclear power plants as a threat. Since that was the last piece of news I heard, I felt helpless in Mexico as there was unrest in Japan.

Now that I am back in Boston and finally have Internet access, I am looking through my F-list, and I am overwhelmed with emotion.

First, I am upset at how the media is not revealing the true disaster that is occurring in northern Japan. Second, I am upset at how there are ugly Americans who would dare post on Facebook that this is some sick karma and that the Japanese people deserve to suffer. [F*** them!]

But in all seriousness, what really moved me is how we are uniting together to take action and give support.
We have GACKT-san, who has been putting all his effort in helping his kyoudai since the earthquake struck. And by God, he started a charity foundation *AND* his own Twitter account! :O

Then there are wonderful people like kurenai_kimitsu, pyroyale, tsukisagi, ashura_oh, aku_rin, arizonaicerose, and last but not least, gakuto_girl [sweetie, thank you so much for the LJ gift! xoxo ]
who, with a lot of heart, are using their resources to do what they can to give support to those who need it in Japan. You guys are a true inspiration, for I will do what I can to support my Japanese friends and their loved ones.

I never get tired of saying this: I am proud to be a part of this wonderful LJ community! <3

As a side note, I am sorry that I haven't been able to comment frequently, but I do care about those on my F-list. I wish I could converse with you guys more than once in a while. You are such wonderful people, and I do wish to get to know you guys better. :)

I'll make a personal post later about a couple things that I've realized while I was in Mexico.

Until then: peace!

YFC! YFC! YFC!

My copy of the Swimsuit Live DVD arrived in the mail a couple weeks ago (it was Jacket B, Normal Edition, btw). My roommate went home for the weekend, so last night I took the golden opportunity to invite friends to my room to watch the DVD on our HD tv with high volume!

Only two came, and one of them was a GACKT fan while the other just wanted to be with friends.
I don't know about them, but I had a BLAST!! Most of time, I looked like an idiotic fangirl banging my head and singing along. Oh yeah, and I squealed a lot when G moves his hips like they don't lie. HNNNNNNGG!

But yeah, I hate to betray my love for 6D7N, but I think this live was so much fun that it ranks up there as one of GACKT's best performances.

My friend who's a fan was surprised that I knew the lyrics, and what song was coming up next. I told her that in all my 30-minute drives to my job and back this past summer, I was blasting in my car while screaming the lyrics to either Otoko Matsuri [thank you Franck!] or EVER. It was my pinnacle of youth. =^^=

P.S. I forgot what song it was after (The Next Decade?), but there was a point when my fan-friend and I yelled out, "AMAIA!!!". XDD

P.P.S. Just re-watched Vanilla. DUDE! How is it that he is frickin' 37 years old, and yet he makes us squeal the same way we would for pretty-boy idols????

Happy GACKTiversary to me!~~~~

Hello everyone!

Much thanks to pyroyale, my celebration of my first GACKTiversary is now complete!

I am now adorning my new piercing with the h-DARTS "DARTS of Gigor" earring. (it was the only one I could afford)

Picspasm~~Collapse )
Is it just me, or is the earring a little too tight?Collapse )

Writer's Block: The name game

What's the origin of your username? If you could change it to anything else, would you, and what would it be?

I created this username when I was in middle school, for my AIM account.

I was very well known for my love/collection of Hello Kitty at the time (and I still am. ^_~* ). I had a best friend who nicknamed me "Kitty", so that whenever we pass in the hallways she yells, "Hello, Kitty!" XD

My favorite color is pink. So I decided to incorporate that, too.

"pinkkitty" was already taken, so I decided to put in a number. My lucky number is 16, but that was taken too, so I went with 0808.

Finally, my user pic [see above] has some meaning as well. It's Mew Ichigo, the main character from the magical-girl anime, "Tokyo Mew Mew." It was the first anime that I watched subbed, and I was blown away with how the the show was more interesting to watch with the Japanese elements in tact, in contrast to the piece of crap 4Kids put out.
So it was thanks to watching that anime in my freshman year of high school that I was reeled into Japanese pop culture. (also, a good chunk of my Japanese vocabulary, I learned from that show. I guess it was because the subbers put in a lot of translator's notes.)
The ED theme to Tokyo Mew Mew will always be #1 in my heart. =P

A (belated) thank you to friends

As I was writing a PM to Paola to express how flattered I am to be mentioned in her most recent post, I just realized that I forgot to thank her for the lovely birthday gifts!
